I had a power outage yesterday and today when i went to my tank with the discus and arowana i had discovered that one of my seven discus jumped out and died. my arowana and Discus will not eat. I need some suggestions. one of my filters will not turn on!

Turn off lights, up the temp, add some salt, try some crickets (fed with carrots).

First off I would be concerned with you water parameters, what are levels of ammonia and nitrites? How long was the filter off? The filter that is non functioning how much of the filtration is that for that tank?

I would unplug the filter for a couple of minutes. Then I would up the temp to 83 and add some aquarium salt. If you have cories I would add half of reccomended doses. Sorry for that poor Discus, how did it jump out? Do you have a lid on your tank? because Aro's have a tendency to jump too!

Check your water parameters, replace your filters (pumps) get it running, change 20% of your water. Most properly your fishes is under stress due to the power outage, just monitor and keep the pump running for your filter.

i suggest u do a water change first
