Just got my little 8 inch silver arowana today. He looks beatiful but he isnt eating is this normal? The fish store fed him in front of me. I put alot other fish in with him so mabye he is stressed?

Cool he is eating today! =D And for tank mates one 8inch silver arowana ( nice colors ) 6small clown loaches and two medium sized ones. One medium (5inch) Jack dempsey. one small jack dempsey one small texas cichlid. one chinese algae eater ( he's orange ). One royal pleco One bushy nose pleco. Two long whiskerd catfish ( i think? ) there like 3 inches long. So thats all my new stock before i had 50 gold fish feeders for one month and one male and two female aruatus along with two bumble bee cichlids for 2 weeks. they are getting along good! =D

I'm having the same issue with my new 8 inch silver I got yesterday. It's in a grow out tank (55 gal) with a three inche tiger oscar, 5 inch clown knife, 5 inch pleco, 4 inch pictus catfish, 5 inch African knife, two 5 inch bala sharks, and two 3 inch red belly pacus. Community fish from this tank will go to a different 55 and semi aggressive and aggressive will go to a 200. But could these fish be stressing the aro too?

I don't know why people get so concerned when a new fish they have only owned for a few days

A heathly aro can go 1 month easy without food

I even moved a large red 20inch that took 2 months before feeding after the move

I would say most fish can go 1 month without food

As long as the fish is healthy and your water is good I don't understand why people panic so much

Oh thanks for the advice. And they are all currently in a 180gallon. with two rena fillstar xp ( i think ) they are like 280gph . every one is eating and getting along and lookin real happy.
