Hey everyone,
I bought a panda gold recently and i got the fish on 27th Night and i received it with a broken fin(i could see the broken fun lying at the bottom of the bag),
The next day(28Th) i gave it a few feeders and it ate only 1 guppy.I also bought a heater as in my place the temperature is 22-30 degrees Celsius so heater in not necessary, and i put the temperature to 30 degrees.I also added salt(iodized) as i have heard The amount of iodine in iodized salt is VERY minmal-- so much so that the difference between it and Kosher salt is negligible, especially when considering the volume of an aquarium. If you feel salt is necessary instead of medications (which would be considerably more effective), regular old table salt will work-- the goal is just to raise the specific gravity to a level the infection can't tolerate.
The minuscule amount of iodide that would end up in a treated pond or aquarium is likely to be beneficial (as a potential source of essential iodine for both certain plants and animals) and certainly not harmful. Fishes can suffer from goiter (= iodine deficiency) also

The amount of iodine in one tablespoon of iodized table salt is .0000382. When you factor that into gallons, that means you have .00000764 tablespoons of iodine per gallon, which is FAAAAAR below what could even be considered mildly stressful for fish, let alone harmful.
I have added 8 tablespoons and my tank is 53 litres which is arounnd 1 gallons i think.
Today morning i turned off the heater as the tank was extremely hot and till now my arowana has not eaten anything.
PLEASE HELP ME....I DONT WANT TO LOOSE HIM
THANKS!!!

Should i get rid of all the salt content present in the tank??

nithin.. do a steady water change.. fresh water.. keep the heater on.. prob at 22 c is enough.. keep the lights around the tank dim.. and the tank should be aerated well.. dont use any power heads.. use a canister.. give the aro some time to adjusted to the new environment.. the aro will slowly eat.. leave a few guppy in there if you are sure they are parasite free.. try a couple of crickets..

I am currently using the impoted tank with in built filter and light...
Steady water change as in removing 20% how often...I am not worried about the fin growth i just need it to eat
Thanks
