Ive always wondered whether or not these actually make a difference??? But the thought is gr8!

No offense but we've seen plenty of these and it is a good idea but..... I don't think the fish and wildlife guys will go for it because of the retards who made it illegal in the first place. Go way south of Jax and then west of Miami and go fishing....you'll find a lot of fish there that are being sold in the lfs's because people let them go and they survive down there. The chances would be good if lfs started selling them that someone would do the same and the indigenous species sometimes can't survive with huge preditors like that. Keep doing your homework though and you will find a way around it typically by gaining a special permit to get it and keep it. Good luck :)

signed it anyways. I was #450. :grinyes:

I don't really think anyone will release an asian arowana. I hate people who release fish I would rather find an aquarium who will accept the fish. I hope this works but I doubt it. I seen this before on WW and I signed it already. :naughty:

No one is releasing a 1000 dollar fish into the wild. Trust me, there are more than a few people here who would drive across country to pick up an asian arowana for 500 bucks.

You would be surprised.

I talk to people on a near regular basis, and they are looking to get rid of purebred dogs, cats, the ilk. They don't want to pay a donation fee to the no-kill shelters, and they don't want the stigma of leaving a pet behind at a kill shelter. So they leave them at my work, at the zoo, because obviously a dog belongs there.

I'd like to think that the price tag on an animal will determine its care, but that is not the truth in all cases. Yes, a grand is a lot different than spending a few hundred on a freshwater stingray. Still.

In AZ, it is illegal to own piranha, but not pacu, and the latter is what we find in the manmade lakes constantly. It is illegal to own freshwater stingrays, and until recently, any sharks, because people freaked at the thought of some hobbyist releasing said fish into the Salt River or the like. Never mind that I know of no shark that could survive in AZ water!

you have a better chance of getting asian aros in the US if you get your own breeding program going

if a breeding program was started in the US when the ban started just think how well it would be doing now

i dont think the asian farms would be to happy though :naughty:
