Hello, I have wanted to own my very own arowana for some time now and yesterday I finally got my very own :D Enjoy the pics!

Hes currently in my 75g with nobody for company besides my senegal bichir
Now before I start getting flamed let me make sure everyone knows Im taking this very seriously and am currently already looking around lfs for a good 250-300g.
Hes about 6 inches right now and plan to have him in the 250-300 by the time hes 11-12 inches.
Now come the questions:
1. Is it alright to keep it in a 48x16x18 until he is 11-12 inches long?
2. Going by the principal that you could keep 2x 2ft arowanas in a 8ft long could it be possible for me to buy 1 more 6 inch jardini for my 75g until I set up the 300g if its just the two arowanas?

1. You "could" BUT ya gotta understand if that fish gets spooked he/she's going to end up hurting itself because it doesn't have alot of room to swim. The bigger it gets the more often it'll happen.. It's probably fine now but I'd start looking for a biggger tonight because they'll grow quick.

2. I've heard of it being possible to have an aro communtity in a very big tank but wouldn't recommend it with the size of the tank you have. Just enjoy the one ya got! Then buy another when ya upgrade! Good luck and good looking fish!

thanks =)

jardini will most likely pick on your silver. silvers are pretty defensivliff when they are small like that you will be ok in that tank for awhile but probably not 11-12 more like 9-10
sorry for my spelling

So by the imput I'm guessing I have roughly 2-3 months before upgrading which will be plenty of time and I'll by a jardini thats a little smaller then instead of now

You will be Ok keeping the silver in the 75g upto 16". Don't wait until it gets to that size to get the new tank though. Silver aros grow very quickly and can have growth spurts of 3" in a month.

Growing out arowana in smaller tanks is fine just try to keep it in a tank that has a length 3x the aro's length and a depth/width at least equal to the aro's lenth.

I would stay away from mixing the silver and jardini. Util you get the bigger tank it would be best to just go with the single silver aro.

You've gotta lot of growing Monsters listed in that sig of yours. You will need much bigger then 250-300gallons.
