Hello,
I currently have a 13-14" silver arowana (Gandalf) in a 75 gallon. He's growing fast, and soon I'm planning on building a pond for him (and other predatory fish). The basic measurements would be 12' wide x 12' long x 4' deep. I think thats around 3000-4000 gallons. May be to big for him currently, but I'm planning for the future. My only problem is: what do I do about water changes? Obviously, that much water volume doesn't leave much room for water changes. In the 75 gallon, I have to do a 30% water change at LEAST every 2 weeks, or his swimming patterns become irregular and he stops eating. Would the much larger volume of water and a good filter eliminate the need for a water change?

With something that big I'd install a drip system and never do another water change.

its where water is constantly 24/7 draining by drip by drip but also filling up drip by drip

I'll look into it. Thanks for the advice. I'm also considering what kind of tank decor. Does anyone think they would enjoy driftwood or rocks o the bottom? I know they are primarily surface-dwellers, but I have commonly seen mine venture into the plants.

If you do a drip system no water changes will be SOOOOOO nice
