Arowana Price Help

Hi,
This guy near me is selling his 6 -7" silver arowana for $40, i've never kept an arowana before but have always wanted to, I was just wondering if this is a good price or should I just say no
 
Price is fine, but should be the least of your worries, before taking on the task of raising a silver arowana.
 
yeah, that's what I'm thinking...
I have heard/read they are a bit tricky to raise.
I only have the 150 gallon also, I read they need between 150 - 300 gallons...
You guys think i should just skip it and save myself the hassle?
 
intentions are good.. but Arrows are def not an impulse buy fish. I've made that mistake.
 
Good deal.... but more experience.
 
Here in San Francisco, you can find 4-6 inch silver aros for about $20 and Jardini's for about $29. The prices fluctuates but these prices are about average. The Doctor

No you should do some research and decide for yourself if you are willing to commit to properly raising an arowana. If you are unwilling to eventually upgrade to at least a 96x30x24" 300g tank then the answer is easy.
