arowana question!

Are you asking how you should set up an Arowana tank? If so, leave the top 1/2 to 1/3 open for swimming area, other than that, it's really personal preference. Some people like bare bottom tanks for their Aro's, some like more of a habitat set up. I have mine with some smaller driftwood/plant decorations on sand. It's really just preference, after you allow for their natural swimming area. They'll "pace" back and forth in thier tank most times.

Really again your preference. Both have pros and cons, and you'll find users on here who swear by one versus the other, but really it's your choice. There are some fish that REQUIRE a certain substrate, but an Aro isn't one if them. Mine rarely visit the botom of the tank. That being said, I like sand. Also take into consideration what your filtration will be. If you're using a UGF (for example) in conjunction with another form of filtration, that might rule out sand, unless you make some specific adaptations to accomodate sand not falling through the plates, etc..

Here's a sticky link regarding pros and cons of specific substrates;

make sure there is no gaps in the lid. I had a jardini jump out, there was a small gap where my intake goes in the tank and he managed to get out and died
