Folks,

Which arowana is the fastest?:woot:

My curiosity was picked by the latest issue of TFH:

"The ancient arowanas also have a unique respiration system in which the swim bladder not only regulates the fish's depth in the water, but can also channel extra oxygen into the bloodstream of muscles when necessary. This oxygen boost allows the arowana to swim at high speeds for much greater distances than other fish species, thereby making it an almost inescapable predator" (Phil Purser, "The Primitive Fishes of Four Continents," Tropical Fish Hobbyist, August 2005, p. 93).

nice

well now that would explain why my silver had the energy to fly across the tank and bang his face on the glass 30 times whenever I got near the tank! Well...the first few days I had him that is...he's all calmed down now

I reckon from the shape of silvers and black aros..they would be faster swimmers than their asian counterparts...but Asian aros would be more massive build and thus stronger fishes than the south americans..
