its developing a fog, maybe cloud eye over the one eye. From a head to head angle the "cloudiness" is protruding off the head some. Other than clean water and some salt, any suggestions on preventing further swelling or maybe worse...

melafix will help with the eye.

my aro (and other fish) have done the same. I just added a little melafix and they seemed to just go away within a week.

The worst case was on my perch when the vieja kicked the crap out of it.
He healed after a week (with 1 dose of melafix)

aro is pretty big and don't have an adequate "hospital tank" Should I spike the whole tank with melafix. there's like 20 other healthy fish in there.

I dont know if you've seen my 265 when it was fully stocked, but I just left them in there and dosed the whole tank.
The aro is 24" and the perch is 18". It doesnt bother biological filtration or other fish. I even have more sensitive fish (clown knives) and they werent bothered either.

personally I think that melafix sucks. thats just my opinion. I would skip it and add a tablespoon of salt for every 5 gallons of water SLOWLY!! also keep his water very clean and it should heal up. the cloud eye is normal after an eye injury.

If you end up adding melafix to your tank, I would check with DavidW or someone and see if you can even add the normal dose of melafix with rays. Just a thought.

Maybe its just me, but everytime i use melafix on borderline rays, they alway hop
on over to the "R.I.P" side. :)
