i just got a black aro this past friday (good lookin out rich!) and hes doing good, swimming around with his tankmates, swimming in the output currant and even coming up to the glass when i approach! well i was wondering how long does it usually take for a aro to settle in and start eating? ive thrown in some pellets but he just looks at them and then the others take it! do you guys think its because hes been eating on sticks prior to his new home thats why he ignores the pellets?

he was already eating pellets ?? or sticks ??
maybe he's just getting use to his new house.
when o bought my silver, takes two days for him to start eating artemias. pellets take much more time, but he's eating now.

he's.. what size?

I would expect it would take between 2 and 10 days assuming he's around 10".
smaller subjects 2-4days.

keep a shorter photo period if he seems nervous or won't eat.

hes between 12-13" next to a tape measure. he doesnt seem nervous at all but ill give him some time! good lookin out yall!

I would keep trying on sticks and maybe one feeder to see his reaction
And some pics to your forum friends lol :D

he finally took the pellets! :headbang2 i threw a good amount of pellets in the tank and turned off the livingroom lights and kept still. he swam around a few times and then started eating! man, i was getting worried! now i just need to get some bigger pellets cuz he eats alot of the normal size ones!

Congrate! Once the aro takes pellet and stick willingly, I will usually try to feed it all sort of brand to make it not so choosy.

My silver started eating everything within hours of being in the tank.
