Arowana Trouble

As I have scanned the forums I have noticed a large number of the members have arowanas. I don't know if I have just had horrible luck or I am doing something wrong. Currently his tank mates are 1 clown knife, 1 payara, 1 long fin senegal bichir.

I don't blame my first arowana since he was beat up when I got him. Though the current arowana I have has turned into just as much of a menace as my first. He has now officially killed a pleco, and a payara. Both of these fish where WAY to big for him to think they where food. Also any time I get near the tank he freaks out! stats swimming all over the place like he things he is my next meal.

Anyone have any idea on what would calm this monster down? I feed my fish 3-4 dozen feeders twice a week. Is this not frequent enough or is he just not getting enough food in general?

I am going to be changing a lot of things in my tank which will hopefully help all of my fish. I have 4 fake plants in a 125 gallon tank I plan on replacing the bulbs with good plant bulbs and getting real plants. I prefer the way they look and maybe that will make everyone happier.

I have always liked arowanas and I would really like to keep this one but if he keeps assassinating all my fish he is going to have to go. Any help you all can provide would be great.
 
watch out for the real plants, they may change your pH, streessing even more the aro;
btw, whats your water parameters ? maybe something is stressing him.
Are you sure any other fish is not bullying him ?? and what's its size ???
 
The arowana is a little over a foot long I would say. He is easily the biggest fish in the tank. The Bichir is to himself, the payara swim away when he comes by, and the clown knife is the most recent addition. The arowana was like this before I got the knife.
 
I agree with hothishgirls, get him off the live feeders, and also what type of aro is it ??? If it's a Jardini they are just like that and will kill other fish in their tanks. If it';s a silver i'm kinda shocked, i've never had a silver kill other fish.. I know my silvers would freak out when i came by the tank but that was just until they got used to alot of movement by the tank.

He is indeed a silver arowana. The main issue with taking him off live food is my payara will not eat anything that isn't swimming around. I guess if there is no choice they will convert.
