I noticed the other day my 17" arowana has some raw looking scales and bits of his fins and tail missing on his back end. I don't see any of his tank mates chasing or picking on him but I'm not home enough to watch all the time. Could this be anything or just some bullying? Thanks for the help guys

What are the tank mates? I would certainly think it was aggression.

This happens a lot to Arowanas when the water quality isn't up to par. Check your Ammonia and Nitrates. That is usually what causes the fraying and thinning out of scales. But it also could be from aggression as well. What are the tank mates?

I'm also curious about the tank makes though.

2 tiger oscars and a gar. The oscars only nudge him around and he always goes over to "their spot" and toys with them. The gar doesn't bother anybody. I'm going to step up the water changes for the next few weeks and see how it goes. Thanks for the help

Fin\tail damage from poor water quality doesn't happen in just a small localized area. You'd see more issues throughout. That damage is from the aro trying to escape attacks, probably rubbing against decor or the top glass. The oscars "nudging" could be much worse while you are not around to see it.

Keep up with your plan for increased WCs as it will help with healing, it's going to do nothing for prevention though.

Everything happens at night.....
