well i just bought an arowana today its bad ass but not sure the race its not just silver it has red dots on the end of his scales and i was wanting to find the bread so i can look up the sex im thinking about breading some. as for water changes are they durable or am i going to have todo water changes all the time like my freash water sting rays that kicked the bucket on me anyway:irked:

Australian jardini arowana i just found out from the guy i bought it from are they better then the silver? he is 20 inches long did i do good for 100.00 and how do i sex them?

he is in a 100 gallon tank i usually do water changes weekly if not every other week

20" Jar in a 100 gallon? Get a bigger tank or sell it. Depending on the dimensions it's already struggling in there. Good deal on a fish that you are not fit to house at the moment. Water changes once a week should be good if they're big water changes but I'd up it to twice a week.

You should probably get a bigger tank. I would compare a 20" fish in a 100g tank to living in squalor in NYC...pretty much an apartment the size of a small coat closet.

Fish need to "stretch their legs" - not be cramped up in something where they can barely turn around.

Sorry, thats just my opinion, but I think a lot of folks on here will agree with me.

Maybe try to sell of some of your breeder tanks and pick up a 200+ gallon tank. Maybe even bigger if you're trying to breed him. Sex is always better when you have more room to spread out. :D
