Just curious, I'm planning a 8'x3'x2' build in the summer, currently have a 150 gal stocked with cichlids, I won't keep all of the cichlids but would like to keep a few, GT, Oscar, possibly my jag. I want to do a black aro and a ray with these fish, will this pose a problem? Also looking at maybe a school of geos and a couple uarus. Thoughts / opinions? Thanks for looking

I've kept a pair of oscars together with a silver two before with little problem for the most part. There was a while that my aro actually picked on one of the oscars, but it eventually stopped after I rearranged everything.

Can't really speak for anyone else though. I would say it really depends on the personality of your fish. Some fish are laid back and some are plain monsters towards everyone else in the tank.

I had a 5 inch oscar eat a six inch silver aro. He's a jerk though, it might just depend on the fish. Pretty sure the Jag will eventually kill everything too, but that's just a guess. Good luck, sorry I couldn't be more convincing.

I've kept aro's and O's together and it went okay. Thing is my Aro was bigger than the O's so that probably helped alot. The only problems I see with keeping the 2 together is the fact that the O's will edfinetly nip and your Aro's finnage will suffer for it. Plus O's are very aggressive eaters which will make it hard for the Ray and Aro's to compete for food. The minute the food hits the water they'll be all over it heck even before then they'll probably jump for it. Plus the Ocars create alot of waste and rays are on the fragile side when it comes to water quality. I'd stick with the ray and Aro maybe some nice Dats instead of O's. I love O's but I think Pacu's are a better fit with them plus some aggressive eating cats if you wanted an O tank. Hope this helps.

Most have found the combo of arowana and large cichlid to work out well. Recommend that the aro be at least 10-11" long and twice the length of the cichlids.

what he^ said and from my exp cichlids and rays aren't worth it, ray stung a oscar of mine and cichlids killed one of my rays...not worth it

The 2 oscars are really big sissies, all they do is pick at each other from time to time, other than that they mind themselves. The gt picks on my firemouth and jack and the jag is a wimp too, she gets chased around by my salvini and the dempsey from time to time. Oscars aren't like normal oscars, lol, they're not "garbage disposals" they eat less than any of the other fish in there and they're 10" Maybe I'll just do an aro and leave the ray out, idk...all the options with a monster tank in the works, haha!! :nilly:

I try'd to keep an oscar with my aros when I first started my tank but that didn't last very long. the oscar ended up bullying my jardini so I gave my oscar away. Jar was about 2/3 bigger than the oscar.

i agree with the person who said do dats
