Ok, ive read about how tankmates should be larger than the arowanas mouth, so how big should the tankmates actually be for a large aro (~25" silver)?

my smallest fish in my tank is 4 inches, aro's almost 30''

thanks for the reply. Is your aro peaceful? did you raise it with its tankmates? do you keep him well fed? why do you think your aro hasn't gone after your smaller fish?

What size would a fish have to be before its unlikely to be eaten by the aro?

My 23" & 25" silvers are with over a dozen fish that are about 5". My 14-15" black aro is currently in a tank with about 15 cardinal and neon tetras. None of my aros were raised on live feeders that they would have to hunt and catch.

Both my large silvers(I think del had this happen too) have end up with fish in their mouth accidently during feedings and spit them out.

Thanks for the replies

So is it pretty common to get an arowana that won't go after fish?

:nilly:

They were on sale so i decide to go ahead and get one :headbang2
He's a bit torn up, i hope it heals...

no she sizes up the other regularly now, yes she was raise with tankmates, well fed, and she dont like feeders. though i did watch her swallow a baby oscar on accident.
