Hi guys. I want to have an arowana since it looks very appreciated and famous around this website. So I was asking myself this questions and it would be very helpful if you answer them.

- Which can be the tank size limit for a young arowana, lets say, 4 to 5 inches?
- How long can it take a silver arowana to reach its adult size?
Additional info would be helpful. Thanks

slivers can get 4+ feet. what size tank do you have? the need very wide tanks. blacks stay smaller aroun 3-3 1/2 feet. you will need around a 300 gallon to house a full grown silver.

I have a 25 gal planned for a young silver, but I`ll buy a 300 gal in about 9 weeks. Can the young arowana live healthy in the 25 gal or should I wait to get the 300 gal one?

with good feedings and lots of water changes, an aro can grow at the rate of 1in. to 1.5in. a month. Your 25g. would not last long.

In my opinion an aro can be housed in 180g. min. but if you can get a 300g. go for it!

Read through the aro forum and you will get lots of good info here! GOOD LUCK!

i agree with that until the fish is 30"-36" because 180s are only 2 feet wide. they need at least a 3 feet wide tank IMO that is. i say once the fish is about 30" it needs a 3 feet wide tank
and master chef you might as well wait and get the arow after you get the 300gal because you will have to cycle it and everything. unless the arow is only like 2"

a 55 would make a decent grow out, a 180 will house it for a long time, but would cramp it after it passes the 2 foot mark.
once they hit about 18" their growth rate will slow....it will take no time at all for them to hit 18" though. Keep us updated with what you chose

Allright, I`ll wait to the 300 gal, but in the meantime I`ll keep looking for some aro care. Thanks for your help guys.

if you want a silver go to the sticky educating mfk on the silver arow.
