At a local store there is a big 7" to 8" silver for a good price for this area. Now it is in good condition, body, fins, eyes, scales everything except the 2 barbs on the tip of the mouth look like that have been bitten off by a tankmate. my question is do those grow back or are they gone for good? Do I stay away and not purchase? Thanks in advance

I would just wait. They may grow back but then they might not. Is there a trace of them or are they damaged to the base?

those will grow back thats not a problem

sometimes they do sometimes they dont. its hard to tell you yes or no without actually being there and seeing the aro. but my aro had one of his barbells severely damaged by a tankmate and it grew back very well, cant even tell it was damaged. extremely good water quality will do wonders for healing barbells to reduce the chance of infection.

My black aro lost both and they both grew back normal. One of my silver aros lost one and it grew back only half the length and very thick, looks odd.

If it's not cut to the base then yea it has potential to grow back, you can cut them evenly if they aren't and they will grow back the same. If it is to the base then they will not grow back naturally, some breeders say you can use a needle to prick the skin where they are suppose to be to encourage them to grow, never tried it but i would if i had to.

if it is that bad, I don't think it will regrow.
