Arowanas with large cichlids?

I would suggest against this combination. The Jaguar can be quite nasty and times and start nipping the aro's fins (especially silver aros). If you absolutely have to do this, be sure and keep your eyes on them and/or provide a divider of some sort. Good luck.
On the other hand, if you are housing an Australian or Asian Arowana, they may be the aggressor and your cichlid may be preyed upon.

The jag is going to want its own space. I would advise against it untill you get a big tank, then make sure the arowana is big, and it still might not work. It does work for me though.
I wouldnt try it in a 55 anyway because the aro will outgrow that tank very quickly.
