Novelty keychains in China have caused animal rights groups to call for a boycott of the summer Olympics. The small, sealed plastic bag contains a live goldfish and is marketed primarily to children; they are considered unofficial souvenirs. The figure on the bag is one of five Olympic mascots China inveiled before the games. Acivists say the fish recieve no protection in the bag, which is easily jostled and pierced, and that fish barely have enough room to turn around. Furthermore, because the bag is sealed, the fish will suffocate within hours. At press time, hundreds of thousands of people were already expedccted to boycott the Olympics in protests of China's treatment of Tibet.
