There are still some people that don't see the harm in this. This is a good detail of why you shouldn't release your pets.

No it doesn't. Any fish that you have in your home aquarium should never be released, period. This would include native species that you took from the wild as there is the potential for disease transmission from your tank to wildlife. If you can't find an appropriate new home for an unwanted fish, please euthanize it.
