i'd like to say no, but i've had them strip fake plants before
but no they won't be detrimental. They often grind bits off surfaces if they are going for something else such as algae, often find grain and rock deposits in their tracts.

what?? were they eating the fake plants?
which brand?

so where do you think i would see them on during the day? the real ones or fake ones
or do you think they would preffer caves during the day

tracs is feces correct?

put them both in then.

Diet wise, very few plecos NEED driftwood as a food source, although many rasp it down anyway. Fake and artificial is good for cover and hiding spots, both artificial and real are useful.
