Artificial pond idea/question

In the next year or so I will be shopping for a home with many acres. My question is, in PA, VA and Upstate NY, is it possible to make a pond outdoors to keep CA/SA? And I am not saying a small pond but something rather large, so how deep, and wide would it have to be if it could be done so they would not freeze in winters? I know central park in Manhattan has CA/SA cichlids, but I dont know how many actually make it through winters.

Sure, if you have the cubic dollars it would take to keep it at 80+f
 
What were you thinking sizewise?

See how much greenhouses cost before pricing the pond.
