Arutus color change

so i have this arutus in my tank that has all of a sudden changed colors. it was the normal yellow color up untill about a week ago. from what i understand, the males are darker in color? he is a good 3" or so long. would it take this long for it to show male colors or is there some other underlying issue? sorry for the dirty glass, tomorrow is tank cleaning day.

That is normal behavior for Auratus. Dominant males will turn black, whereas the sub-dominant males will retain the yellow female colors.

thats what i figured was going on. his aggression has gone up a little as well.
