Inspired by mrunlucky07's masterpiece, phase one of the pond system is underway with approval and prodding of my slave driver gf. The initial pond will be somewhere between 6' x 12' and 7' x 15' when completed. I started digging it out on Friday after work and the slave driver put me to work digging on it for quite a while on Saturday. Pictures later this evening when I get home.

Did you finish your indoor project yet? (I guess I'll have to go to the other thread to find out(or click in your sig)).

Welcome to the pond world

Where's the dang pics! :swear:
How deep is it going to be?

What kind of filtration will you be running?

Any plans as far as stocking yet?

Today's progress. Those 55 gallon drum tops are 23.5" across.

Pond will be 6' x 14' x 30"

Liner with initial folds before liner folding to 6' x 14' x 32"

There will be a 2x6 pressure treated frame around the top inset to level the top of the pond. The clay from the dig will be used to fill behind the frame and slope down to the yard. A mini pergola with lattice on the fence side of the pond then removable bird netting and animal barrier to keep the birds, cats, and other animals out will be installed on frames.

I have 3' to dig back towards the garage end for the 14' length and the sides and bottom to smooth out.

Good progress. I've been very interested in the wakin filter, I just haven't had a chance to try building one myself. Plus I don't have an air compressor to run it, although I do have a shop vac...

dang, you started this weekend and are going to beat me lol. I need to get out there and lay the piping for mine so I can chicken wire it and then concrete the bottom. If I do it right should be done by mid august.

hope this is a less frusterating project than the indoor build.
