I hadn't been to one of my fav. LFS in over a month, and since I was in town I decided to drop on by. I was looking in the tanks, when low and behold, in a bottom tank in the back of the store, they had three barbs. Right away they caught my attention so I looked closer, and shore enough, one of them was a hampala!
Yay! The other two the same, but are definitely not hampala. The guy was convinced they were hampala though, and even though I tried to reason with them, they were rather hard headed. Oh well, they were the same price regardless if they didn't know what they were!
So I asked them how much, and they told me $6.99 a pop!
I was a little more than stoked with that since they NEVER show up around here.
Yay!
Any idears what the other two barbs are? I only took pictures of one, since they both are the same species. They don't have the black edging on the caudual fin like the hampala does, and they have a spot instead of the bar. Plus the top half of their bodies is a really beautiful yellowish color. It almost looks like they have bigger mouths than the hampala as well, even though they are the same size.
First one is the 'mystery' barb, next one is the hamp.!
Have at 'em!
