can some one explain why asain aros are illegal bc i see them for sale on the internet all over the place for hundreds. any imput?

I believe it has to do with there being a threatened species in the wild, but I am no expert.

The fact is they are illegal. Craigslist is full of illegal propositions (prostitution, selling stolen/illegal goods, et cetera). That does not make these activities any less illegal, just as it doesn't make buying/selling Asian Arowanas any less illegal. Unfortunately craigslist has very limited moderation and that is why so much illicit stuff is associated with the site. Unlike MFK, which has standards to uphold! :headbang2

Yes, basically they became critically endangered in the wild. All Asian arowana (unless illegally caught) are captive bred (not an easy task btw) and they ALL have microchips implanted in them. The US still doesn't allow them to be imported and they remain illegal.
One of the arguments I've heard is that there's a fear that illegal collecting will increase if they're opened up to the US market. But as it is they're now illegally imported with no regulation. So, it's funny like that. ;)

actually I think they are illegal because it is a stupid U.S law!
those on internet are scams, there were someone just got caught buying a RTG and the fish end up in a public aquarium near me!
