Freke,
Our company is located in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, it's where Super Red Arowana originated from. You could check my thread if you're interested:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95834
our company is CITES registered and each fish is microchipped and have legal certificates, etc.

Let me know if you're still interested.

Cheers

freke: never heard of them before, sounds like a local shop / reseller.

depending on the quantity you want to order, i would try to stick with some of the larger dealers/farms like xianleng, sainlong and silvadena. stay with someone whose been around for a while as most of them will require payment upfront. if its only a few i can refer you to a few contacts in singapore.

i know but most of the big ones min shipment is like 50 aros a time and i dont think there is anyone in sweden that suply with CITES proved aros. So you never know if ppl is intrested in getting one. Everyone knows that loads of ppl say they would get one but realy would they when its here and they have to pay for.. So if everyithing goes as im hoping do i need to start small. And 50 reds or so isnt free thats for sure:cry:

well i contacted them a few weeks back they're prices is 1250 USD for a red excluding shipping. I asked them what farm they were from but they said its from various farms. the idea is they buy fishes who buy it from various farms and selectively declare as good quality. so no they told me no certificate and can't really trace the fish but it is microchipped. just that if u ask what fish your going to get, they will tell u that its from various farms that their agent selected from that resell to you. so no specific farms will be mentioned. just another example of the flipping game that goes on in SEasia.

the flipping game i am referring to is buy aro from various farms and call them actively select the best from various farms and resell to another agent/LFS/farms and have their store name braned on it.

aros in this way isn't illegal b/c they do come from CITE registered farms and have micro chipped. just that they can't tell u which farm its from b/c all they do is send agents out or buy from people who selects the best from the best farms.....since you don't really live in SEasia and can't really look at it, i'd go with brand name. the farms that have been in the biz for a long time and have good reputation like Panda.

if ppl see that their famrs are just flipping the fishes, by now the reputation wouldn't be so good. like in my town the LFS can't tell u the farm their aros are from nor show u a certificate because their 'agent' selects the best fishes from the best farms. which i find its bull****. if u cant scan the fish on site and match the cert, i can't trust spending 1000 USD on a product i thought its really worth that much.

HOWEVER if u see the fish its a different story, if the fish is really nice and can see its truely quality, who cares bout certificate or where its from. BUT the LFS aros sucks balls IMO and can't prove its quality even by brands form famous farms as they claim to be.

if your buying overseas, definately go for trusted farms and agents. the cert and microchip only matters to the customers when they want to resell their fish to other customers when they reach like 20 inch size. hard to sell w/o certificate b/c its already hard to trust LFS even harder to trust individuals that dont' have a scanner to match the cert.

yup, agreed, alot of people are talk. but before you do anything else. my advice is to work out all the details with your govt first. whats the point of looking for a suppliers and buyers if you can't get any stock.

I know im working on it but everyone knows desk ppl isnt fast. Called the Animal agency as the CITES lady said but they are always away or doing somthing. They will call me back thursday with more info.. it looks good so far becouse sweden is in EU and under EU laws and the Aro is legal in UK that is under EU laws thats what the CITES lady said anyway.. ive seen a few RTG here in sweden not legal tho and i was thinking maybe thats the way to start to get ppl attention. Putting a 1000-1500$ in a show tank wont help since most ppl is out lookin for guppy, tetras and cicklids.. Thats why i cant buy like huge number of reds or so.. None knows the market for Asian here.. But it would be a dream come truth if i could get things started.. Jars, silver and so on is no prob to sell here but its a diff price tag.. And its all about money

So, are you trying to get one for yourself at retail cost or are you trying to get 3-4 at wholesale to resell? If retail, why don't you go through the UK?

If wholesale, you're just going to have to bite the bullet and import a fair number of fish. I still stand by recommending Panda. They're one of the oldest and most trusted in the business. I believe our Canadian friends started with them. I just verified, they have a 12 fish limit, which I think is the lowest.

I bet you could find a fairly new farm that just started up who might be willing to get you a few less, but quality could be an issue.

Im not talkin about getting 1 at retail and keep for my self. I was thinking like 10 or so and see if ppl is willing to get them here. Or see if anyone here is willing to help me get this thing started. But yeah i want some for my self to later on. As i said before none here in sweden imports them "legaly" so thats why ive been thinking it might be a good idea to start with. A big LFS here is trying to get his documents for inmporting the arapaima from peru, and he already sold 2 to the seaworl museum here in Gotenburg when he gets them.. We dont have all ur fancy fish here its freekin cold so thats why i want to start sumthing new.. But how know it might just be to big but i have to try.. Anyway ill keep u updated with info from all the agencys and things when i get info.. thnx for helpin
