Asfraci and Tuba-please reply!

These fish have all but disappeared from the hobby...Does anyone have them or know of anyone that has them?

I believe the asfraci won best of show at a recent ACA, so I believe someone has them. I believe it may have been Dan Ye, but that's a guess.

Also, I believe Tuba was available at the 2009 OCA Extravanganza, but I'm just passing along third-party info that I read on the ACA forum. Good luck on your quest.

Asfraci are in trouble. I know several people that have one fish but only know of this pair being left. I'm sure there are a few more out there but I have not seen them. Anyone that does have a pair sure isn't getting them to spawn as fry have not been available in years.

Tuba were avialable in limited amounts last year. I think most of them came from Canada. Although I'm guessing most of the fry are dead as I have not seen any tuba growouts pictured on any fish sites.

I only took pictures of the dominant male and his female but there's another pair along two others in there.

Check with Ray ("bigpic"). He may be able to get you some tuba. Like JD said there were some spawns up in Canada at the end of 2009..I assume from Spencer Jack and somebody else. I was tempted to get some but eventually decided not to deal with USFW...

Only Tomocichla that Conkel has in stock is sieboldii. And Rapps current stock list shows nothing of that genus.

I had a big female tuba, gave it to a friend with 3 males. After she killed 2 of the males, she spawned with the 3rd male, and does so regularly., although I don't know where things are at the moment, he gave me some fry a couple times, but they tend to kill each other after about 2 inches even in a tank 150 gals in size.
I had a pair of asfraci a few years back but after a spawn she killed the male and ate the eggs.
