It seems like the gold standard for plywood tanks with acrylic windows is corning 795, but has anybody used ASI silicone? The 795 is $17 a tube but I can get the ASI for $8 a tube. The tank will be glassed with Max ACR and I was planning on pouring small epoxy filets along the edge of the acrylic.

Use 795 if you really want to go with acrylic.

The fillets wont really adhere to the acrylic very well even with sanding. Any minor flex or expansion of the acrylic will be enough to break the epoxy bond.

Also if you silicone the window in place and then pour epoxy fillets be sure to consider what the heat generated by the epoxy exotherm might do to the silicone.

The most reliable guide is to compare the technical specifications sheets for each product. You would need to know what characteristics are more important to you.

For example ASTM C 1135 is adhesion strength using industry standard.

The price difference between $8 and $17 is not that much, even if you need 50 sausages but let the specifications guide you. That's why there are so many different products even from the same manufacturer.
