One of the barbels have been cut in half, can see some new growth, hasnt been severed completely just the tips
will this grow back?
the aro is only 1 year old

it may, or it may not...depends on the stump and whther it already scarred.

you get the $900 one from trademe?

the barbel should grow back, one of my asain aro broke half this barbel in transport when i first got him and it grew back perfectly

how do you know? if its scarred? or only time can tell?

It tends to have a blunt end...looks like it is healed over ( that is what I mean by scarred )

Some asian experts make a new cut and open a wound to allow it to regrow.

I would advise, as the saying goes, not to do it at home....

No i would not dare do something at home, in fact i dont like that, if it doesnt grow back then nature has taken its course. perhaps it will break again in the future and grow then. im not tooo fussed.

EVIL ELMO: yes i got that one on trade me, pics below:) its a nice one, people say they look ugly, NO WAY!, they look great!

with the right lighting, colour should improve slightly too!

Please do not take this as an offence. The fish looks a bit small for an 1 year old.

It is still pretty young so barbel could grow back, but usually they grow back a bit thinner and a bit more "fragile" looking.

Some people use the needle picking method, where you poke the peak of the broken barbel to stimulate the growth... But personally I have never tried it before.

if its just the tips that been cut off and not till the root of the barbel then it will heal. give it time
