Came home from work and my 13 inch diablo red arowana had a scale missing. The scale is laying on the bottom. Its like its been surgically removed. A clean job as well. Im guessing he injured himself on a piece of driftwood that the dats hang around. Scale is on opposite side of tank though. The scale in question is the fourth one from the top fin on the back.
Temp is already at 84.5. What else should i do besides clean water and a lil salt? How long will it take to grow back. Is he more open to diseases or infection?

Thats about all you should do. Lay off meds as you don't need them, I probably wouldn't even do salt if it was just one scale and just do a few more waterchanges. Your aro will be more open to infections in the wounded area, but if you keep your water clean then theres nothing to worry about.

it will take along time to grow back but it will and that one scale with always have something about it that is different from all the others

LOL, I know what you means as it has happened to me before as well. Just don't pay attention to it and you won't notice the difference as much over time.

As Gshock stated, no salt is really necessary - just keep up with the water changes. Should heal and grow back shortly.

Hahah thanks. Maybe he will have a lil more fear in him around the dats. Hahah I doubt it. He is acting like nothing happened. Just as starving as ever. He likes to fill his belly than he fills his mouth and holds it till theres room. As im typing this he is hunting the 8 inch plus dats. Ill post some pics of his scale and the area it came from.

My silver became startled once, flew into a frenzy and banged against the glass. He lost a scale. It will grow back. He will be fine.

Yeah pulling the wood means pulling the dats. That is my plan now. Its tough to face the fact my aro wont share its space.

It take months to grow back
