Hi,

Can it be said that asian aros are the smallest compared to the others? i currently own a 3inch green aro, in a 4'x2'x18inch tank. how soon will it outgrow the tank?

Growth rate and your view of what's cruel will determine how quickly or even if you upgrade at all. Some folks keep asian aros in a 4x2 for life. Some folks underfeed in order to keep them in smaller tanks for longer periods of time.

Personally I think once your aro is 10-12", then a 4' tank is too small. Minimum 6x2x2 for life for an asian aro, imo and experience.

Probably within a year or two. Depends on the Asian also. Greens tend to be smaller than Xbacks and Reds, if I'm correct and about the same as a Jardini.
Greens are one of the largest along with reds. Xbacks and RTG are generally smaller.
Minimum for an RTG would be 60inches by 30inches. You could put a green in that for life but it would be cramped.

only like 1 year and few month

Just took a rough measurement of the green while feeding it, its just under 17" now, was just under 6" 9 months when I got it in November last year. So thats about 1.2" per month, but if you look at the thread I posted above you'll see the growth has slowed a bit, lengthwise anyway, its still putting on girth and has thickened up since that last photo.
It looks ok in the 210g (180cm long, 75cm wide) wish I could give him something bigger. Certainly wouldn't be happy in a 4'x2'x18" tank, and would probably be a lot smaller and stunted...

One year?!?!?! I'm starting to wonder if you have actually ever kept an aro Hao...

My green took 5 months to grow from 6" to 14". I think the time it should be kept in that tank should be measured in weeks rather than years....

Here's a link to the thread I made on my green aros growthrate, I'll try take some pics today and update it. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230409&highlight=green+aro+growth+rate
