I know I maybe late to the party. But why are these fish still illegal??? What is the logic behind this unjust statute??? I mean most of the ones we in the hobby would be interested in would come from captive breeding farms in Asia or Canada??? So really what is our governments issue??? Is it money??? Is it politics? If so how much and which party is so opposed to us having these wonderful fish in the trade??

Somehow I don't think this issue is discussed on a daily basis on Capital Hill.

My guess is once a fish is banned, it is hard to get it reversed. Could be years and years before the issue is ever brought up again.

Agreed. So what do you feel it will take for us to get their attention and have them revisit this issue??? They were banned because of their status in the wild right??? That is no longer an issue. There has to be some agriculture fishery branchof gov that give a damn.

I mean no longer an issue because of captive farming and breeding of the fish in their native range.

i wish they would lift the ban on giant snakeheads

That's true. In about 10 years or so, they will probably be found in every southern state from Cali to Fla.

I'm not so sure anything can be done. Unfortunately politicians in Washington cannot act unless the house is burning down around them. Just my opinion.

It would be nice to get a Asian Aro some day.
