Has anyone tried malaysaian aro's with discus as tank mates..

I change 10-20% water 2x a week..
To which fish will i adjust the water chemistry? PH, dH, temp?

I have a powerhead and overhead filter.. And an airtube.. should i lessen the water flow?

ive done silvers, jars, dats, and discus before. worked ok for me. not many discus owners would recommend that, but theres someone who has done a slighty planted tank with i think a chili red aro and discus. looked amazing... but i forgot who it was... surf the web and you'll find pics of the guys tank.

as for the water chemistry... i would say to adjust it slightly closer to the discus since the aro will adjust fairly ok to it. i had my temp set at 82-83 and pH at 7... lower should be better for discus though. so i would suggest dropping pH to maybe 6.5.

Should i cut the water flow current for the discus??

I don't know the temperment of asian aros, so I can only comment on my Black aro and discus tank. First thing is you need to have adult discus that are hardy eaters, juvinilles can get stressed during feedings which causes problems. The temp needs to be 82F/27.8C degrees minimum, I recall in another post your tank can get down to 77F/25C degrees. You water needs to be changed on a weekly basis to keep nitrates near 10 ppm, discus do need pristine water conditions and I'm sure the aros will only benefit also.

I would suggest becoming experienced in keeping discus, before atempting the mix. Also I would avoid any live feeders for the aros, if housed with discus. Discus are a little more susceptible to diseases.

You can see my black aro/discus tank by clicking the link in my sig.

no prob ;)

Tnx for the info.. the tank's a 75 gal and pretty sure that the current ranges from med-strong..

Would discus eat superworms/meal worms?
