Asian Arowanas with SA Arowanas

Hello everyone,

I've never really seen a thread about this. Out of curiosity, are Asian Arowanas suitable tankmates SA Arowanas? They have different body shapes am wondering if they will bother one another.

Sweet. I remember reading that fishes are more aggressive to others that have similar body shape. In this case they also share the top level of the water column.

Wondering if the success rate is better for this type of mix versus a community of the same types of arowanas.

I dont know I had trouble mixing aus. aro with SA aro SA seem more timid then aus or africian aros

Yeah, mixing Aus with any aro is usually a bad idea.

i currently have a comm tank of 3 silvers and 6 asian aros.. no problem. i guess the size of the tank, feeding schedule/amount matters. A wave maker would help to reduce fights. then again, it also depends on the aro's personality.

I think an asian arowana would look at an SA arowana and see another arowana.

Its possible to have an aro community, but it requires large tank size.
