Asian Market = Ray Groceries

I haven't tried the snails or the mussels yet, but I'm sure they'll love them. My rays eat almost anything that hits the water. The gutted/headless smelt and gutted/headless/skinned white anchovies are my favorite because it's less messy than feeding whole fish. Although they still get quite a bit of guts and brains from the other frozen food. LOL

Sounds like your rays are defintly getting a varied diet... sometimes the best places to get fish stuff is the most unlikely places lol Imagine if they asked why are you getting a bunch of different sea food....for my rays lol

Apple snails are a NO-GO. Some rays ate them, but took them forever to chew them up and swallow. That stuff is like rubber!!

Nice variety Im sure your rays appreciate that (well maybe not the rubber snails lol)

I feed my Henlei head-on gut-in smelt but I've been part-thawing them and cutting them into bite-sized pieces and they make almost no mess that way.

Smelt, shrimp and tilapia are their staple but they've also had catfish ($2.50/lb but a little bit messier as it hits the water). I've gotta find an Asian market around here and see if I can find anything cheaper 'cos I'm sure they'd eat it if it's not made of rubber.

Shrimp is good, too, but outta my price range normally. Tilapia goes on sale every now and again at the local grocery store and I get a few bags. Catfish is just too oily for me. I was hoping the snails would work since they are part of the rays' natural diet, but I gotta find a different source other than the dime-sized ones that I grow out with my cherry shrimp. It's fun to hear my rays crush the shells, but they don't grow fast enough LOL
