I would start with an australian considering how expensive an asian is.

Its better to start with the cheaper alternative to get some experience under your belt.

you would need to exert the same amount of effort rearing either so i would suggest for you to choose which one you really like so you won't be disappointed about your decision when they've all grown up

i'd personaly go for asians as they look better in my opinion

Get whatever you can as long as you can afford it and its legal. Both are awesome fish.

Too bad, nevertheless Asian arowana is plentiful in Singapore (red, gold, green.....) the choice is endless.
