just picked up one for a steal..only 8 bucks it was on sale. ive been looking for info and cannot find any on this fish. im guessing it eats the same as RTC's? its all black with a red tail and white whiskers. any info would be great!
Wheras the south american redtail will eventually eat it's tankmates the asian redtail will just kill them. I have tried a few different fish with mine and have had success with large plecs, although these will eventually end up dead i'm sure. They can grow up to 6foot in their natural habitat but I havent seen one over 2 foot in captivity. Keep their water clean, filtration high and their tankmates minimal to none. Mine enjoys prawns, mussels, crickets, worms, hotdogs etc. I don't know if they are all the same but mine wont eat if i'm watching but as soon as my back is turned the food dissapears. My fish will arrange his tank decor/substrate/heaters etc as required on that particular day so don't expect to keep a nicely aquascaped tank.
Anyway in my opinion despite their fascinating qualities this is one of the most evil fish I have and will ever own. Under low level lighting they can sense you in the room and will move their long barbels at you from under a rock as you move around - bad vibes man.

I think that i might have an Albino 1(waiting on some advice from MFK'rs on my thread under "A chance of getting")the 1 i have is like 4" in a tank with 2 4-5" RTC's,this cat is non stop movement with an appetite to match.
