There's a few 10" asian spotted gars at the LFS, I'd like to put one in with my black arowanna and tigrinis catfish but was wondering if their temperature tolerance is around the same level. I've got the tank between 84-86 degrees.

Anyone have opinions on this?

Similar to this...has teeth, a more broad bill rather than pointed like you see in reed fish, and at the time it was feeding on guppies...

Just saying what they had it listed as, just called and they have no clue on the scientific name.

Owner did say they get huge if that helps at all...I know nothing about gars, false gars, ect. ect.

Get a pic of the actual fish and it will clear it up... Most likely it is Lepisosteus platyrhincus.

Did a search and that is most definitely what it is - though I'll still get a picture. Based around it being that species could it tolerate the temperatures I'm talking about, and would it get along with a black arowana?

Maybe... Temp in my opinion is way on the upper end. Gars, Big cats and aros are also always tricky to mix. Works sometimes.... really fricking fails bad other times..

If it was me I would not do it... Temp is not optimal for the fish and the tankmates are far to iffy.
