When I was at a LFS a few days ago an talking with the owner bout the plecos he had in stock. There was one He said it was a Asian Spotted Pleco, it looked pretty cool. However I cant find any info on them.

Anyone know anything bout them?

Plecos are from south or central america, so I don't think you will find any info on an ASIAN pleco. Perhaps it is a gibberceps aka sailfin pleco?

ya I figured it wasnt from Asia, Im gonna take a look on Planetcatfish an see if I find anything that look like it.

I think this is the one http://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/1997_07.PHP

I think I may get him he was only like 6.00 an would be happy in my 29gal until hes big enough for my 120gal.

agreeing with everybody else...that's a dead ringer for my gibby :)

I have seen the Asian Spot pleco at my LFS, and it is not a Gibbercep. they are distinguished by the star that crosses their eye. I have never seen them before, but the LFS said they are a new species recently discovered.

I found an article about a couple of strains of gibberceps that ar being bred commercially in asia, They are still gibberceps but there is supposed to be a slight variance in the pattern.

OOPS! found another site that is selling "asian spotted dragon plecos" L113 (Megalancistrus parananus), same reason, the breeders are in asia, still a South American catfish though.
