I was wanting to get some feedback on keeping these fish and your experiences with them. I've got a couple of them a month ago with a used 55 gallon fish tank that are 7 inches approximately. They definetly look like channel cats and I learned the hard way that they can eat small fish when I bought some baby platy to put in the tank and they started disappearing. :( If you have pictures of giant ones I'd love to see how big they can get, I've read that they can easily outgrow a tank.

i have one in my 150. IME it hides most of the time and would only come out during feeding time. pretty peaceful as well.

I've got one around 10" and it just sits in its hiding place all day every day. They love to eat smaller fish in the cover of darkness. Mine occasionally comes up to gorge on pellets during feeding time then its back to the bottom. Also i have found that mine is pretty territorial towards other catfish and cichlids. But all in all I just like the look of them, i just wish they were a bit more active during feedign time haha

I have one about 6.5" and FAT. He always likes to hide under my big plant on the left side of my tank and really only comes out at night time, he's a nice peaceful easy catfish to maintain :)

- They are slow growers

Yea I can definitely believe that they will eat fish in the cover of darkness because the platy would only disappear at night. And they are definitely territorial as I've found out as my two love to hide in these two cave decorations I have and they will fight each other or the plecos I have until one leaves the cave. I've watched mine at night with the lights out come to the top and eat bloodworms I've put in, and I've even seen them eat flakes that would circulate from the filter through their rock tunnel cave I built and they would just open their mouths real wide and suck in the flakes. It was kinda cool looking.
