I've seen so many of these asian tanks so filled with fish... how do they maintain that? Filtration?

Anybody has an idea?

I find it awesome though...

Wow! Is that in an LFS?

you can call them what you like, "asian", "overstocked", "crowded" or "Japaneese style" tanks. They are basically all the same thing, but the following is needed to properly maintain them. You need to have heavy filtration, a very large tank(although you could do a 75g with tertas andother small fish) and be experienced in fish keeping. The massive bioload will have an end result of a massive amount of nitrates, the nitrates can only be removed with water changes or expensive, high tech, Denitrators.

Personally I like the way some look, but don't care to atempt something such as this. There are those, who will say this is wrong for the mental well being of the fish. I think that most all fish find comfort being in large schools.

I can't find the link but a couple months back somebody posted a 125 for sale with 30+ Midas in it. It was amazing, I want to do that, mabye 15 midas though.

Way too much for my comfort... i prefer having a single monster in a tank...

Nice avatar, by the way, Bderick67... :)

I imagine they are kept up the same way the lfs keep up their tanks that are stocked with tons of fish. I think it's just a lot of water changes, good filtration, and no decorations (to make it easy).

Yeah, most of the pics I've seen are tanks with no decorations...at times, the tanks are even bare-bottomed...

I believe they put more emphasis on the fish rather than the decor...the background, for example, is most of the times black...
