If a large one really wanted you dead, it could inflict some pretty nasty bites...
Most monitor bites (Excepting the Crocodile Monitor) are crushing injuries with puncture wounds or small cuts from the teeth. Largest animal they could kill... Deer, maybe.

Well early today I was watching TV and NatGeo said a perentie could kill a kangaroo. I noticed the perentie had the same slim snout of varanus salvator and wondered if it was capable of such power. I had my doubts because they eat alot of fish and there teeth aren't big.

The teeth are shaped and placed differently. Most monitors have conical teeth where the top row of teeth sits farther out than the bottom row. Mainly good for gripping. Croc monitor teeth are double edged and extremely sharp, and the top and bottom row fit together. Perfect for slicing through meat.
