Hey , ive had the asitica for awhile and one of them is really shy , its the bigger one tho he claimed a hiding spot or she i dont know what it is but they seem to be really shy was same thing with my SH when it was small theyr both pretty big asiaticas i wish i could show u a pic but atm its really hard to catch a pic with the hiding they do usally the big one hides in a plastic wood thingy that is just like a cave , i know that ur gonna say "ur temprature is too high" but i really dont think its about that since one of the smaller asiatica usally shows himself and if hes hungry when its food he will go nuts to get it , anyway my micro and the bigger asitica has been showing some aggresion towards each other but it settled down it could be taht my space in the tank i got is not enough but im just about to order a special size tank so that wont be a problem , when my micro out grows it for real , and then i mean really huge he will probally get a new home in the local aquria swimming with 1 meter long redtails , and tsn / pacu etc but thats still a long awhile to go and i dont want to give him up unless hes certain to not be eaten , anyway my asiatica is shy when taking pics / trying to watch them , ive seen them out when its nothing loud or person trying to check out at the tank but if i go close with them camera they would just both hide!

Hi,try to lower the temperture and see what happens.I dont think that the problem is with the water temperture but the different species.

agreed ^^^ although i think its a mixture of both , auranti and asiatica are really affected by water temps , hence they will useally seam more active just after a water change the higher the temps the slower they become.
the other problem is most defanatly because of the two species mixed , i can tell you that for sure as i have tried it . the results speak for them selfs.
mix any snakehead out of the larger group or more active swimming group i.e micro pleuro maruliods marulia ect with any of the less active group or small to medium group i.e auranti asiatica pulchra stewarti ect, and 9/10 you will end up with the asiatica ect hiding and could well be described as a bottom dweller , and the larger fish i.e. micro will patrol the upper level of the tank. take the micro out and within a week the asiatica will be hanging out under floating cover at the surface. asiatica will never swim about activly but should feel secure enough to be on show most of the time.

you really couldnt get two more unsuitable channa then asiatica and micropeltes ,the asiatica is going to eat the asiatica anyway , its just a matter of when , if micro is they way you wish to go ,then concentrate on that and forget the asiatica , if asiatica is the way forward for you then get rid of the micro and catfish, but you can not possably provide good conditions that suit both long term.

plus i would highly suggest you check with that public aquarium if they would take the micro off you ,many aquariums will not as they keep biotope aquariums , and a massive fish from asia would not be welcome in a display tank of amazon giants in the vast majority of public aquariums

cheers col

Yeah could be that ur right on some parts but recently both the asiatica are showing themself abit more espcially the smaller one is hanging around with the micro on higher water level theyr not acting like bottomdwellers its just when u get closer to the aquaria they seem to be quiet skittish could be a question of patience tho im not sure yet if i was to give up the asiatica or try trade it in for some other more suiting fish , the bigger tank is on its way i already order a custom made light-ramp for it. for now il keep em tho.
