Both of the backgrounds are removable. I decided to not paint the tank this time, as I always had in the past. The tank is a 120G peaceful SA community. Thanks in advance for all replies.
I've always had dark painted tank backs. I like how it hides the filtration, heaters etc.... But it also brings out some small scratches on the glass.I personally like the dark background.
+1I personally like the dark background.
Could always put a moss wall.I've always had dark painted tank backs. I like how it hides the filtration, heaters etc.... But it also brings out some small scratches on the glass.
I've done a moss wall before, and when it filled out it was really cool, but I haven't seen very much Java moss near me in recent years, and when I have, it was ridiculously expensive.+1

Thanks Duane, I think you're right. I'm going to run the black background for a while. I added another 30'' LED fixture today so another thing I was concerned about was the growth of moss and algae on the white background. You may find, that because the substrate in your tank is very light colored, a dark background will help the fish show better, and normal colors.
If everything is too lihght the fish instinctually try to blend in, and colors tend to wash out.
