The Rex
I Just bought three 1.5 inch Channas which were titled Indian Snakehead. I'm assuming that means they are assam because I was under the impression that bleheri are from an oriental country. Could be wrong, but the blue on the bottom fin is prominate on both species, can't tell whether or not the top fin is blue or green yet cuz I'm colour blind so I have to wait till a friend comes over. Let me know your opinions and I'll try to get so pics.

any red on the tail? and does it have pelvic fins, a pic would make it easy to guess...

the clear difference in determining what species it is the pattern on the tail; bleheri will have orange blotches on the tail where as an assam will not

Hi,

bleheri and sp. Assam are both from north east India.
And as already said, bleheri have orange blotches in the tail fin, were sp. Assam have blue lines (like gachua).
Both species dont have pelvic fins.

If its called indian snakehead, it also can be gachua.

Or even diplogramma ;-)
Trading names suck

cheers

Miss Me?

I have a pic here but they dont stop and the lighting of the tank isn't great. Hope this helps, but the flash washes out the blue on the bottom fin.

ps:just saw the pic it's horrible (will try to get more... i doubt its a guacha, too much blue.)
