ibwas under the impression that assassin snails needed a partner to reproduce.
I've had a lone assassin snail in my planted tank for several months and a few days ago I noticed a baby. And now that baby has doubled in size.
Anyone have any input on whether they can be asexual? Everything I read online says they're not asexual.

Let me add my planted tank has a pretty healthy population of the little annoying snails. That's why he's been alive for so long.

Never mind. I just remember that I added a plants a couple months ago. He must've been a microscopic hitchhiker.

I have no explanations but 1 of my planted tank got snail recently, I didn't add any new plants for years and my tank was snail free for years too. Few weeks a ago I spotted a snail in my tank...how did it get in my tank? I have no idea LOL :) I took that snail out and I'm still don't know why my loaches doesn't eat it for some reasons.
