Small update on my alfari, Modest Man really bummed by telling me its not an amph anymore, really a bummer, but still he is rare, atleast the only one in Iceland.:headbang2Sorry scotty for letting you down a bit.:( I want it to be amphilophus too.:(

When did they change it anyway?

You should really work on the editing the picture for a more natural look. The pic is super saturated and while it makes the red and yellows come up more it really misleads to what the fish really looks like.
Why not let the fish have it's natural beauty?
As for the Amphilophus/Astatheros situation, it's a bit confusing. As far as I have noticed they had been going back and forth. Not just with alfari but with the whole sand-sifting "Amphilophus" group.

And it's likely to change again. Astatheros macracanthus is the type species for Astatheros, but it's not much like the sand-sifting species. Many people think another new genus will pop up for the sand sifters.

Yea the Amphilophus/Astatheros change really pee'd me off. I always considered myself an Amphilophus addict!! but ive now had to become an Amphilophus and Astatheros Nut!!!!!!!

Beautiful specimen there by the way.... simply stunning.

Thanks guys. straitjacketstar: i know i went a little too far in editing.

Your a. alfari has amazing colors.

Why so bummed? I never understood why they were called amphs in the first place. Astatheros are so unique, and not as common as amphs..
