can anybody give me some info on these guys and where i can find some for sale at , this is a beautiful fish from what i have seen

Amphilophus...mild mannered - semi rare cichlid. Not peaceful by any means, but by comparison to other CA's it's a wimp...

Not much to them. I think Conkel has some for sale. Do a Google for Don Conkel.

It's up for debate what genus they are. Traditionally Amphilophus but DNA analysis seems to put the sand sifters as a genetically differant group from the midas/red devil group. Astatheros hasn't really been accepted yet, so not sure if they will end up there ... but the sand sifters deffinately do need thier own genus. They are kinda in limbo atm as the scientists battle it out.

Rhytisma is semi-aggressive. The dominant male in a group develops a hump and vibrant red colors. It is a substrate sifter. Any high quality sinking pellets would be appreciated by it.

I keep mine with Robertsoni, Nourisatti, lyonsi, longimus, and other mild-mannered cichlids. I think it is a great fish to have.

I agree....... It's a beautiful fish with a reasonable temperament. Just make sure to give it a tank with fine sand (not crushed coral) and feed it primarily sinking foods of small sizes.

Rhytisma is one of my favorites!

check Aquabid i saw some larger ones on there
